Guzman y Gomez
GYG, shortened from Guzman y Gomez (as only Aussies can), was born in Newtown (Sydney) in 2006 when founder and Mexican food enthusiast Steve Marks landed on Australian shores to a shocking lack of decent Mexican food.
Growing up in New York, he considered himself lucky to enjoy incredible Mexican food and a vibrant Latin culture that surrounded him as a kid.
At GYG, our passion is creating delicious food out of real ingredients. Up to 24 hour marinades, chip-tasting session and chillies really get us going! We don’t take shortcuts in our restaurants- we use fresh ingredients and authentic techniques. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it!
